Hi Lisa, I spent about 20 minutes looking at the different companies and hither'due south my take. I was virtually impressed by Prown's, which had pretty much perfect reviews on yelp and google (and lots of them). I don't love how expensive the Majestic window bid, but it is a meliorate window than the Genesis, and a MUCH better window than annihilation United makes. If you are staying in the home 8 years or more, this is the bid I would go with. Excellent product, excellent reputation for the installer, and more expensive than I'd similar to meet, but the price is off-white if I comapre information technology to the quality of the other windows.
I have your point about the Gilco being more of a carpenter, only the Prown's most perfect reviews leads me to believe that you would be on solid footing going with them. Prowns, I'yard assuming, is going to remove your existing windows and replace them with the proper sized window and not impairment anything on the exterior.
I wouldn't go with the United based on the product alone.
KHPP makes a very practiced window, but information technology seems like Carls is more of a fencing, decking instead of focusing on windows. Their reviews seemed decent, only non nifty.
The Prown's would be my choice, especially if your timeline in the home is substantial.

Don, the United 8000 and Simonton 7000 are pretty comparable windows. I would probably give the United the nod over the Simonton on this one. Withal, neither of these are windows I would consider that smashing.

Michael, while United is more known for making building quality products, I can't speak to the quality of the 4500 sliding door. Many of the products sold out of Lowes and Home Depot are relatively cheaply made products. However, $1300 is a significant savings, and so I meet your dilemma.
I know Harvey makes a good window and door, as does Andersen. In those cases, you are getting what you pay for, and a portion of what you are paying for is the proper name and marketing of the companies.
I call up the question you need to ask yourself is this: is the $1300 savings worth taking a chance that 8 years down the road you start seeing issues with the door. I can't answer that question, just if money is tight, it might be worth going with the cheaper selection and making certain that the install goes smoothly.

Jim, Simonton is admittedly the better window compared with United. I would definitely recommend going with the Simonton pick, even if you aren't in your forever abode. Jerry, United windows are more of a low end vinyl window and not a window that I would recommend putting in your home. They will certainly be amend than your quondam Silverlines, simply they're not going to off you the sort of long term value that you lot should be looking for in a window. I would prefer you get a mid range Simonton or a Ply Gem Pro over the United double hung.
Without seeing the existing windows, I couldn't say whether it would affect the existing jams and trim. Certainly a contractor could come up out and tell you lot. All three window brands you mentioned are in the lower end of the vinyl window range, withal we are talking near a rental and so you probably aren't looking to put a ton of money into the project.
If it were me, I would get with something like a Simonton window, perhaps their VantagePointe series, or their mid range Reflections series. Simonton makes decent windows and with proper installation, information technology should serve your interests well.
The other visitor that is local to your country is Vytex and they brand very decent windows and its very possible that a dealer in your area would offer competitive pricing on one of their window models. Looking for 12 replacement double hung windows, plus converting 2 to a bay...then far I accept 3 quotes. The Alside Excaliburs and United 4800s were really close in price, then the Crystal Series 200 was about half that. I'yard non certain which I should go with and what the differences are. The United rep said they use shims and caps on every window instead of simply nailing them in. Is that a big deal? Excaliburs have a better warranty. I don't really know much about the Crystals, they can't be as proficient for that much less.

I'k looking for replacement windows in New Jersey. I have 4 casements, a double slider, a 9 foot patio door and 2 picture windows. I've got quotes for CertainTeed Bryn Mawrs, BF Rich, and Series 700 from United Window and Door. The quotes are all pretty similar, with pretty much the same warranties and features. I'one thousand not sure which to go with. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info out at that place on United.

A lot depends on the contractor. CertainTeed is now made by MI, and I'm not a fan. I don't know a lot most B F Rich. United is a heart of the road window, they aren't great but not horrible.
